Web design involves the structure of a website, including the information architecture (navigation schemes and naming conventions), the layout and the pages, and the conceptual design. The intent of web design is to create a website that draws users in, encouraging them to read around and stay on the site for as long as possible, exposing them to the site’s content, including text, images, sounds and videos.
Good web design results in a site that is easy to navigate, looks good, conveys the right amount of information (neither too little nor too much), is relevant and, depending on the kind of website, generates sales leads, builds brand awareness or informs the user.
